Established in 1978, SIBM is in its 27th year of service to the student community. It continues to be the fountainhead brand of Symbiosis and is recognized as one of the best Business Schools in the world. On this occasion it fills us with immense pride to recall the epoch making events that led to the formation of SIBM as it is today.
Year 1979, SIBM proved its pioneering self by becoming the only institute in Pune to organize a seminar outside the city precincts - in this case in Mumbai. Soon the trend was set and others followed suit.
The concept of Internships/summer training was another offering made by SIBM to Pune. It was in 1982 that a learning cum training scheme was started. Supplementary training courses were included in the curriculum to supplement the Pune University syllabus. Little wonder then that the same year SIBM started being ranked among the top 5 B schools in India. The same year saw SIBM organize 3 national level seminars all outside the city of functioning.
It would be interesting to point out that the first computer that was installed at SIBM was donated by students. That was in 1987.
In 1990, permanent affiliation was received from Pune University?the only B-school to have ever received it. In 1996 the BASE programme was introduced, in addition to the curriculum of Pune University. The same year witnessed SIBM shift to its new campus with well-equipped infrastructure. The icing on the cake came in 2002 - when SIBM got the Deemed University Status because of it's excellent academic record because of its excellent academic record.

SIBMs multi-disciplinary faculty are drawn from a resource pool of highly experienced industry professionals, consultants and academicians. SIBM operates in a multi cultural environment with several foreign students and visiting faculty from foreign business schools and companies. Success is dependant on various variables. One of them is knowing which resources to blend in what proportion to bring out the desired results. This is the philosophy that drives the Faculty at SIBM to mould each student's individual capacities to the optimum level. The sprawling premises will house the SIEC, Deemed University Office & various Trust Offices, Central Library, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Canteen, Health Care Centre, Area for Recreation Activities, Shopping Area, Guest House, Swimming Pool, Teaching & Non Teaching Staff Housing and Menial Staff Housing. We offer various facilities such as Study and Conference areas, Outdoor and Recreation Facilities, Health care, Accomodation facilities. Study and Conference Areas : Wi-fi campus, Library, Computer Lab, Auditorium. Outdoor and Recreation Facilities : Gym, Yoga, Aerobics, Cafeteria.
